Abstract

 

The Proclamation of Independence sets out the historical and religious connection of the Jews to the Land of Israel, and declares the establishment of a Jewish State, open for Jewish immigration, fostering development for the benefit of all its inhabitants, based on freedom, justice and peace, ensuring complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex and guaranteeing freedom of religion, conscience, language, education and culture. The Proclamation calls upon the Arab inhabitants of Israel to participate in the building of the State on the basis of full and equal citizenship.
